                                      textual analysis- teen wolf

Teen wolf is a series produced by Jeff Davis based on another film . it is all about a teenager that gets beaten by a werewolf since then, his all life gets complicated due to all the problems happening at Beacon Hills .
the shot level By the first minutes of the film "Tyler Posey" presented as "Scott McCall " ,  is filmed looking for his loosen inhalator , this is shown in a high shot level that could mean that the forest is a place plenty of danger . It is filmed at night , in a wood that is very dark , this could give the audience an impression that something could  happen .
The diegetic sounds While "Scott" looks for his inhalator, there are weird noises that we can describe as diegetic sounds, those sounds are : the wind which seems very heavy and the footsteps creating tension and mystery to the audience. also , the silent takes part of few minutes of the film that gets the attention of the audience and creating anxiety . Diegetic sounds are noise which has a source on-screen. They are noises which have not been edited in, for example then footsteps.
The non-diegetic sound  About scene 5:11 the sound of the creepy music suddenly gets louder and louder making the audience interested and think that something dangerous is about to happen; this sound played by the organ (I believe) is used to make suspense and show emotions getting the audience feel as if they are there. those non-diegetic sounds are sounds the editors edit outside the scene and can be used to give different types of emotions to the audience . Very few seconds later , comes right from the middle of the forest dozens of deer's  running whilst the music gets even more louder , at the same speed level as the deer race, building up tension.  This makes the  audience understand that the deer's are running away from something superior than them . Scott fells and the deer's are shown in a high shot level , which makes Scott seem weaker than them .
The cutting rate Scott gets distracted by the deer's and at the same time he sees a dark and quite bigger them him creature which seems to be a werewolf , running after him. At this time is when happens the cutting rate changing from Scott- werewolf  , werewolf- Scott for about 10 seconds , added with the changing of the speed of the music the tension gets even more intensive. The cutting rate makes the audience understand everyone's reactions and  emotion .
the slow motion  Whilst the deer's were running Scott fells down and drops the inhalator which is slowed down and focused for a few seconds so the audience gets that he lost it , this was an important part for the rest of the film because, as Scott was presented with asthma , after he gets beaten by the werewolf later on he will be immune to all previous health problems .

  1. A well written analysis with some good use of media language. You attempt to consider the meaning / connotations. Vanessa
