CDs and vinyl records are both audio storage and playback formats based on rotating discs, from different times in music history. The CD audio is digitally encoded and read by a laser, while analogue vinyl audio is physically read by a needle.
The advantages of CDs
*they are small and portable
*they’re very cheap to produce
*most computers can read CDs
*if the computer can’t read the CDs there are DVDs
*digital playback control
*life span
The disadvantages of CDs
*they have a smaller storage capacity than a hard drive
*quantization
*easy to snap or scratch
*slower to access than the hard disk
The advantages of vinyl
*warmth
*reproduction of analogue recordings
*nostalgia
The disadvantages of vinyl
*forces you to listen the records front to back like they were supposed to
*can’t make playlists
*it requires a great deal of care and attention to maintain in great condition
*tracking error
*fragility
*easily gets damaged
